This is a smaller cake that used fudge for the topping to make it look like the pigs were playing in fresh mud. Whisk the ganache until light and fluffy and spread it over the top of the cake creating the mud for the pigs. Ive always loved the Kit Kat Cakes that have been so popular in the past with standard sized Kit Kats pressed vertically into buttercream frosted cakes and often topped with MMs or other chocolate candies.
I used a few un-cut ones spaced around the top then started layering on cut and crushed bars to create a Kit Kat rim around the top of the cake.
Materials We started with a cake tier that was 6 inches wide and about 4 inches tall. Not only are we using mini Kit Kats but the contrast of chocolate and white chocolate gives us a checkerboard cake design. Use whatever cake mix flavor you like or your favorite homemade. Decorate the edges with the Kit Kat.
